Talk to it or chat with it in your browser

  1. In your dashboard, tap “Assistants” and open your assistant.
  2. Open the “Test” tab.
  3. Under “Talk to it”, tap “Start test call” and allow your microphone. Speak like a real customer would.
  4. Or type under “Chat with it”. That's exactly what visitors see in your website chat.
  • Test calls and chats here are free. They don't use your call minutes and aren't counted as real conversations.
  • They test the live version. If you've made changes since you last published, the page says so: press “Publish changes” first, then test.
  • Before your assistant is live, this tab asks you to press “Go live” first.

Run practice calls

Practice calls are pretend conversations, in text, between a made-up caller and your receptionist. They use your latest saved settings, even before you publish. No real calls are made, and nothing is booked, texted or emailed.

  1. On the “Test” tab, under “Practice calls”, tap “Run practice calls”.
  2. Results show up in a minute or two. Each situation says “Passed”, “Needs attention” or “Couldn't run”.
  3. Tap a result to read the conversation. For anything that needs attention, read the suggested fix and tap the link to open the right tab.

The situations depend on your settings, for example booking an appointment, a question about prices and holiday hours, an upset customer, a call after hours, an emergency, someone who wants a person, moving or cancelling a booking, and a wrong number or sales call. You can run them 3 times a day.

Make a real call

  1. Once a phone number is connected, call it from a different phone. If you forward your own number, call your business number and let it ring through.
  2. Ask what a real customer would ask.
  3. Open “Calls & chats” to read the summary and transcript.
